Thank you for the new journal, Lydia-dono. It does not appear to post my entries to the community, which is helpful.

I wrote this already in my new journal, but the incident bothered me enough that I thought I should mention it here. There was a wanted poster for an assassin calling himself the Battousai. Apparently, he has been killing people and claiming to use the Kamiya-Kasshin style. Although I know that this Battousai cannot be the real one who fought in the war, it troubles me greatly. And he has caused enough worries for a young woman who appears to be an instructor for the Kamiya-Kasshin ryuu school.

I am worried that our paths will cross. I would like to do anything possible to stop this false Battousai, but I am afraid that it will force me to do something I would never like to do.

Perhaps there is an easier way to lure out this Battousai? What is he after?

The police do not know. His calling cards have been blank, except for the name and his sword style. Which is strange--an assassin normally would not reveal his sword school, if only to avoid someone learning how to counter it.

Would that mean he's trying to send a message of some sort, then?

I do not know. It is possible he may have been a soldier from the war who decided to use the Battousai's infamy to make a name for himself. But it would fall apart as soon as someone who had fought him in the war met him.

If that was what he wanted I'm sure he could've used it more beneficially than to make himself an outlaw under such a name.

The Battousai was one of the most dangerous assassins in the war. Whomever the Emperor's side wanted dead, he ensured it happened. I do not understand how someone could want to maintain that legacy.

If that's the case then perhaps that may not be as I thought.. perhaps he's simply trying to use it to give him an edge of fear?

That is possible. And probable. I had hoped that deeds such as this were long behind us in this new era.

I find that there are some things that seem not to change no matter what time period people are from, the more I look into it.
